The style is known for its small circular movements, a lesser quantity of palm and fist techniques, a high posture, subtle foot combinations, the forms are performed in an even pace and a strong emphasis is put on qigong practice.

It is generally described as a style that combines the body softness of Taiji, the walking method of Bagua and the leg and waist power of Xingyi. Initially it was known as Kai He Hou Bu, which means “Open/Close plus Active Step”. |
